About
Amy Long is a multi-disciplinary artist raised and based in Austin, Texas. Since childhood, she has been an avid illustrator and inventor, always aiming to enhance her surroundings with art. Amy's creative pursuits led her to study painting at Savannah College of Art and Design, where she graduated with a BFA in 2008.
With oil painting as her primary medium, Amy enjoys rendering life’s most colorful moments, real and imagined. Her creative style is marked with bright colors, crisp highlights, a painterly method of rendering, and more often than not, a healthy dose of fantasy. She finds inspiration often and everywhere--including but not limited to, astrophysics, the gulf coast, unicorns, and gender dynamics. From wild flying monster trucks to serene desert landscapes, her works' range evokes a span of emotional responses-- meeting the viewer with quiet reverence in some pieces while inspiring levity and nostalgia in others.
Amy's creative hub is her home studio in Austin, where she is ever-expanding her practice, immersing herself in new material and planning new exhibitions.
